Bauhaus Weimar 1923 Poster

From: 90,00 zł
Weimar, summer of 1923: the Bauhaus opened its first public exhibition and designed the paper to argue the same case as the objects. Geometric forms on a central axis, lettering drawn as one of the shapes, colour used to separate planes rather than to decorate them. Nothing on it is

Interart Galerie Exhibition Poster

From: 90,00 zł
Flat planes in strong colour, the gallery name in a modern sans-serif across the top, dates tucked small beneath. Gallery posters of the post-war decades had to announce a show to a street where dozens of others were being announced the same way, hence abstraction, strong colour and tight typography.

Bauhaus 1923 Poster

From: 90,00 zł
Weimar, 1923: the school was still arguing about what a poster should be, and the answer on this sheet is a diagonal arrangement of geometric shapes in strong colour. Type and form are treated as the same material, so the lettering belongs to the composition. It works in a study

Breakfast Art Poster

From: 90,00 zł
The kitchen still life is a tradition of its own: what sits on the table says who lives there. Here a pan is seen from directly above, three eggs just set, a torn slip below reading „o Gusto!” and a pale blue ground behind. The light comes from nowhere in

Takai Exhibition Poster

From: 90,00 zł
A vertical rhythm: a few shapes stacked on a narrow axis, colour in flat areas, lettering small and set to one side, the spaces between shapes carrying as much weight as the shapes. Japanese exhibition posters of the post-war decades were admired abroad for exactly this restraint. Restraint here is

Klee Exhibition MoMA 1942 Poster

From: 90,00 zł
A composition of thin lines and small colour fields arranged like a diagram, lettering in a modern face along the lower edge. The poster announces the Paul Klee exhibition held at the Museum of Modern Art in New York from 19 September to 12 October 1942, which introduced his work

Le Corbusier Lyon Festival 1956 Poster

From: 90,00 zł
A composition of flat planes in strong colour on a vertical axis, lettering set into the structure rather than above it. The sheet was made for the Festival de Lyon-Chambonnieres in 1956 by Le Corbusier, who argued that a building, a piece of furniture and a printed page could obey

Le Corbusier Art Exhibition 1953 Poster

From: 90,00 zł
A bull drawn from flat shapes and one continuous line, the body built out of black against a coloured ground, horns reduced to two strokes, the lettering in condensed capitals. The motif returns again and again in the drawings of the architect who made this sheet, part animal, part sign,

Matisse Retrospective MoMA Poster

From: 90,00 zł
A late Matisse cut-out fills the sheet: flat colour, paper shapes, no shading at all. By the end of his life he cut forms from painted paper instead of painting them and this reproduction keeps the bluntness of that method, the eye reads rhythm before it reads a subject.

Bauhaus Exhibition 1923 Poster

From: 90,00 zł
The first Bauhaus exhibition ran in Weimar from July to September 1923 and its poster was drawn by Joost Schmidt, who lifted a stylised head from Oskar Schlemmer’s emblem and set it among geometric shapes. The head tilts, the grid holds it and the lettering works as part of the

Enchanting Realm Art Poster

From: 90,00 zł
Henri Rousseau painted The Snake Charmer in 1907 without ever leaving France; the jungle came from the Paris botanical gardens and from magazines. A woman with glowing eyes plays a flute in the moonlight while snakes move toward her through the leaves. The composition is asymmetrical and flat, which is

Yayoi Kusama Window Poster

From: 90,00 zł
A frame filled with repeating shapes seen as though through an opening, the pattern continuing past the edges of the view. The composition belongs to Yayoi Kusama’s graphic work, in which a repeating field builds space without perspective: instead of a horizon an edge, instead of depth repetition.

Hans Arp Mondsand Abstract Poster

From: 90,00 zł
Rounded forms floating on a pale ground, each smooth and slightly irregular, arranged so they seem to hover rather than rest, with no outline and no horizon. The work reproduced is Mondsand by Hans Arp, who argued early in the twentieth century that form could be invented rather than observed.

Iconic Basquiat Art Poster

From: 90,00 zł
A head built up in layers: a ground of one strong colour, a drawing laid over it, then words and signs pushed into the same space until the face carries as much writing as likeness. The vocabulary comes from the street rather than the studio: tags, lists, borrowed symbols, letters

Colorful Kanji Harmony Poster

From: 90,00 zł
A graphic built from five vertical strips of brush writing, black, red, green, blue, yellow, each column of characters overlapping its neighbour. The colours are printed flat, so the script reads as pattern before it reads as language. Wide walls and low furniture suit it best. The characters were written

Iconic Love Poster

From: 90,00 zł
No story to trace here. This is a graphic built around a heart, cut to red and blue and left flat. The shape does the work and the edges stay crisp, which is what keeps it from turning sentimental. It sits well in a hallway or a child’s room, wherever

Natural History Museum Poster

From: 90,00 zł
A specimen drawing at the centre of the sheet, careful line work, muted colour, lettering set like an old scientific plate. Collections have published illustrations for three centuries; when they began advertising themselves on the street, they borrowed that language whole, because it signalled authority without a slogan.

Bauhaus Exhibition 1935 Poster

From: 90,00 zł
Bars, rectangles and lettering fitted on a strict grid, colour separating one plane from the next, no illustration in the ordinary sense. By the mid-1930s the school’s public life in Germany had ended but its method kept travelling through exhibitions abroad and through the designers it had trained.

Aspen Winter Jazz Poster

From: 90,00 zł
Abstract shapes in warm colour on a diagonal, lettering set by hand rather than in a standard face, four or five flat notes and no border to hold it in. Jazz festivals discovered early that the poster could be part of the performance, commissioned from artists, printed in small runs,

Stockholm 1930 Exhibition Poster

From: 90,00 zł
The Stockholm Exhibition of 1930 introduced functionalism to a wide Swedish audience and its graphics argued the same case as its buildings: information as architecture, decoration stripped away. Clean geometry, confident lettering, nothing added that does not carry meaning. The exhibition gave Swedish design a public argument and the poster

A map of the whole collection

There are four ways in. Movements group the work historically — Bauhaus, Scandinavian, Japanese, iconic images. Subjects group it by what the picture shows. Colour groups it by tone. Mood groups it by what the wall needs.

Nothing here is ranked. The order is a convenience, and the right way through it is the one that ends with a picture you want to live with.

The four entrances

  • Bauhaus — the school that redesigned the everyday, and its exhibition prints.
  • Scandinavian — light, silence and rooms with very little in them.
  • Japanese — woodblock birds, plants and calligraphy.
  • Iconic — images that arrive already familiar.
  • Matisse and the paper cut-outs, if you want colour first.
  • Collections — floral, travel, music, film, ski, kids, geometric, minimal.
  • Colour — black, blue, red, yellow, brown, green.

How to move through it

Pick one entrance and stay for two pages, then stop and choose. Browsing four branches at once usually ends in nothing being decided, because the eye keeps resetting.

If you already know the artist, skip this page entirely and go through artists; if you know the wall but not the picture, start with colour.

Sizes, paper and delivery

Every poster is a pigment print on 210 gsm Hahnemühle paper, from 30×40 to 70×100 cm plus A3 and A2, frame not included. Dispatch within 24 hours, 3–5 working days in the EU.
