From: 90,00 złVintage posters, and the hand that drew them
The vintage sheets here were drawn before a photograph could carry a page, so every shape was decided by a hand and every word of lettering was drawn to fit the picture.
The Geneva horse show poster from the mid-forties, two horses' heads in profile against a blue sky, with small riders sketched along the bottom, is a drawing first and an advertisement second. The Munch sheet, a man's head resting inside a mass of yellow-green hair on a red ground, goes further: the hair becomes the border of the picture and the lettering is stacked above it like a title page.
Neither would be made in the same way today, which is the reason to hang them.
