From: 90,00 zł
Mountain shapes in flat colour, snow suggested by pale areas rather than detail, a valley line drawing the eye upward. Between the wars French railways sold the Alps as a winter destination and the posters turned mountains into geometry, a style that came from printing constraints as much as from

Locomotive Vintage Poster

From: 90,00 zł
A steam locomotive seen from a low angle, its front filling the sheet, smoke trailing back into the sky, lettering small in the lower corner. Railways advertised speed long before anyone could photograph it, and the answer was a drawing that made the engine look unstoppable. At poster scale the

Luchon Ski Resort Poster

From: 90,00 zł
A valley town at the foot of snowy slopes, drawn in flat planes, a track leading the eye upward, lettering small at the base. French Pyrenean resorts sold air, altitude and light long before skiing became a mass sport and the style came from railway advertising that had to read

Japan Railways Travel Poster

From: 90,00 zł
Mountains in flat layers, a foreground suggesting a platform, the sky left almost empty and the lettering tucked into a corner. Japan's railways sold scenery rather than speed, and the designers who made these sheets applied European modernism to a Japanese landscape with unusual economy. Emptiness here is not a

Aquarium Monaco Vintage Poster

From: 90,00 zł
An underwater scene reduced to bands: water above, rock below, fish as simple shapes moving across the middle, colour flat and perspective decorative. Public aquariums sold a new kind of spectacle, the sea seen from inside and posters had to explain it to people who had never seen it.

Vintage Australia Surf Poster

From: 90,00 zł
Beach culture found its way onto Australian travel and sport posters early, with swimmers, boards and a horizon that never looks cold. Here the figures move in step through open water, drawn flat and bright the way a summer was sold. It suits a bathroom or a bright hallway, anywhere

Classic Fiat Automotive Poster

From: 90,00 zł
A small car in three-quarter view on a road that disappears behind it, body in one flat colour, landscape reduced to two bands. Italian car advertising of the mid-century sold mobility to a country only beginning to own cars, and it did so with optimism rather than specification.

Great Barrier Reef Poster

From: 90,00 zł
Water seen from above, the reef drawn as a pattern of overlapping shapes in turquoise and sand, fish reduced to small marks scattered across it, no horizon. Travel posters of the mid-century discovered that a landscape could be sold by its pattern rather than by its landmarks and reefs suited

French Railroad Travel Poster

From: 90,00 zł
A landscape reduced to bands, a viaduct or track in front, hills behind, sky almost empty, lettering small at the base. French railway companies gave the work to painters and designers and the sheets of the 1920s and 1930s are part of why the travel poster is taken seriously as

Retro Underground Poster

From: 90,00 zł
A stylised transport scene, a tunnel or a platform in flat planes, lettering in a geometric face, colour limited to a few strong notes. The London Underground commissioned posters from artists for decades and the result was a consistent visual language built on the assumption that the viewer is in

24 Le Mans 1959 Poster

From: 90,00 zł
A racing car standing still while a driver climbs in, the crowd reduced to flecks of colour and the flags to quick strokes, the car and the helmet the only solid red on the sheet. Endurance racing posters had to sell two ideas at once: the machine and the human

Rotterdam-South America Poster

From: 90,00 zł
Ocean liners sold distance the way airlines later sold speed and a route from Rotterdam to South America was a promise worth drawing. This one does it with modern lines, a ship reduced to silhouette and a horizon that tilts. It suits a study or a hallway with a travel

Le Cycliste Poster

From: 90,00 zł
A cyclist in profile, body bent over the bars, the bicycle reduced to two wheels and a frame, motion suggested by posture rather than speed lines. Cycling posters belong to the years when a race was a public event rather than a broadcast and the rider was drawn as a

Vespa Poster

From: 90,00 zł
A scooter drawn side-on with a clean contour, the body in one colour, wheels and handlebars suggested with a few lines, lettering small and tidy below. Mid-century advertising understood that an object drawn simply travels further than one photographed in detail, the silhouette does the remembering. Nothing is added that

Speed Underground Poster

From: 90,00 zł
A transport graphic built on repetition: wheels, rails or lines converging, lettering in a geometric face pushed into the composition rather than above it. Public transport advertising had to sell speed to people who had never travelled quickly and it answered with abstraction. The result had to be understood from

Grand Prix Bern 1933 Motorcycle Poster

From: 90,00 zł
A rider leaning into a bend, machine and man drawn as one dark silhouette against a solid red ground, the dates 1 and 2 July set across the top in heavy capitals. The poster announces the Grand Prix in Bern of 1933, when motorcycle racing filled the Swiss circuit and

New York Fly Poster

From: 90,00 zł
A skyline reduced to a cluster of vertical shapes seen from the water, an aircraft crossing the upper part of the sheet, colour flat, perspective slightly raised. Air travel advertising of the 1950s and 1960s sold time and altitude: the city reachable in an evening, seen from above.

Green Line Vintage Travel Poster

From: 90,00 zł
A coach drawn in profile on a road that curves out of the frame, the landscape reduced to hedges and a band of sky, lettering large above the vehicle. Coach companies sold the journey rather than the destination, a seat, a route, a day out and posters answered with a

Italy Railway Travel Poster

From: 90,00 zł
A landscape along a diagonal: a lake in the middle distance, hills behind, a shoreline in front, lettering small at the base. Railway companies sold scenery as much as seats and Italian posters of the 1920s and 1930s answered with three bands of colour and one horizon. The restraint is

Paris for the Weekend Poster

From: 90,00 zł
A city reduced to a few landmarks seen from above, a river bending through them, the sky pale and wide, the lettering confident and set high. The weekend trip became a mass idea in the 1950s and 1960s, when flying stopped being exceptional and airlines began selling the city rather

1930 Monaco Grand Prix Racing Poster

From: 90,00 zł
A racing car forced into the foreground, its body reduced to a few pale shapes and its wheels smeared into ellipses, the city behind held flat like a stage backdrop. Posters of the late 1920s and 1930s were drawn by illustrators who understood that a car is mostly movement and

From: 90,00 zł

Winter Sports Vintage Poster

From: 90,00 zł
A slope drawn as a diagonal plane, figures small and leaning into the turn, the sky one flat colour, lettering tucked into a corner. Winter tourism built its advertising on one claim, the snow is there, come down the hill and answered with geometry rather than detail. The slope is

Samaden, in the Engadin: a skier in red carving down a slope, poles crossed, a small monoplane hanging in a pale sky above the peaks, and the resort name written across the snow in red script. The mountains are flat planes of blue and white, the light is morning. Pigment print

Vintage travel posters: the world sold in flat colour

Between the wars, railway companies, airlines and resort towns hired illustrators rather than photographers, and the results were posters that behave like windows: a diagonal line, a horizon, a few saturated colours and lettering you can read from twenty metres.

That is why they hang so well in a hallway or above a desk. They were never meant to be looked at closely, and they do not ask to be.

What is in this collection

How these posters were made

Most were lithographs printed in four or five flat colours on cheap poster paper, then pasted onto station walls and thrown away at the end of the season. The originals that survive are usually the ones that were never used, which is why the colours on a good one still look unreal.

What a modern print keeps is that flatness. There is no grain, no photograph, no attempt at depth — just ink on paper, at a size you can hang without a story attached.

How to choose, and how to hang

Pick by place if you have a connection to it, and by colour if you do not. The warm ones — Italy, the Riviera, the desert — belong in rooms with wood; the cold ones — alpine, northern, night — belong where the light is already bright.

Two travel posters side by side read as a pair if they share a palette; three or more need identical frames and a level line, otherwise the wall looks like a travel agent's window rather than a collection.

For the winter half of the same tradition, go to ski. For the graphic language that came out of it, Bauhaus.
