The image
A rider leaning into a bend, the machine and the man drawn as one dark silhouette against a solid red ground. The dates 1 and 2 July are set across the top in heavy capitals and there is nothing else on the sheet, no crowd, no landscape, no horizon.
Where it comes from
The poster announces the Grand Prix in Bern of 1933, held over the first two days of July, when motorcycle racing filled the Swiss circuit and the poster was the only way most people would see the machines at all. Swiss and German race posters of that decade worked by reduction: a silhouette, one colour, a date. Flat printing made it cheap and the shape of a rider at full lean was enough to convey the speed without a single line of motion blur.
On the wall
It suits a study, a workshop, a hallway or a room with industrial furniture, where a single figure in movement gives a wall direction. Because the composition is simple and the red is strong, it needs a plain surface around it. In a group it should be the piece that sets the volume.
In company
Hung as a pair with something from the Vintage collection, it gains rather than loses.Avoid hanging it beside another large red graphic, the colour would stop reading as a decision.
