The image
A coach drawn in profile on a road that curves out of the frame, the landscape reduced to hedges and a band of sky, the lettering set large above the vehicle. The colour is limited to green, cream and one warm note and the composition is horizontal and calm.
Where it comes from
Coach companies sold the journey rather than the destination: a seat, a route, a day out. Posters of the 1920s and 1930s answered with a vehicle in profile and a road that keeps going, because the promise was mobility itself and because a simple shape printed cheaply and read from a passing car.
On the wall
It behaves like a window, pulling the eye along the road and out of the frame. A hallway, a study or a bedroom suits it, especially where walls are pale. Because the palette is cool and the composition horizontal, it balances warm furniture and strong textiles.
In company
The Travel collection gathers prints made for the same kind of wall.In a group it should be the piece that leads the eye onwards rather than stopping it and the frame should be slim so the road appears to continue past the edge.
