The image
A field of blue built from overlapping shapes, some sharp and some soft, with the edges of the sheet cutting into the composition rather than closing it. There is no subject and no horizon, the colour and the relation between the forms are the picture.
Where it comes from
This is a contemporary graphic made in the tradition of mid-century abstract printing: flat areas of colour, hard edges, no attempt to suggest depth. The series it belongs to works a single hue at a time, which is why the pieces read as a set when hung together.
On the wall
It suits a modern interior, a study or a hallway, where a large field of colour can do the work of decoration without adding objects. Because the palette is one hue, it holds a big wall and still feels calm. In a group it should be the element that sets the temperature.
In company
Hung beside another piece from the Fusion Gallery collection, it reads as part of a series rather than a single picture.Avoid other saturated colour nearby, the single hue would stop reading as a decision and the blue works best where daylight falls on it sideways.
