The image
An armadillo drawn with a rounded, friendly outline, its shell suggested by a pattern of simple shapes, the whole animal sitting comfortably inside the frame. The colour is flat and warm, with a background that does not try to be a landscape. Nothing is detailed.
Where it comes from
This is a contemporary graphic, made in the tradition of children’s illustration rather than of the historical poster: shapes reduced until the animal can be recognised by someone who cannot yet read, colours chosen to sit well in a small room, and a composition that leaves space around the subject instead of filling it.
On the wall
It belongs at the height of the person who will look at it most: a nursery, a child’s room, a play corner. Because the palette is warm and the shapes are simple, it sits comfortably beside toys and does not compete. It also works in a hallway, where a friendly face at low height changes the character of the space.
In company
Pairs well with other animal prints and with pale wood furniture, and it can be hung in a row of three or four without looking repetitive. In a child’s room, hanging it lower than usual is the difference between decoration and something a child actually looks at. For a wall that will carry more than one, the Fusion Gallery collection supplies the rest.
